End of School Year Reports...

McKaylee successfully finished 5th grade and has been off track for 3 weeks. She had the most amazing teachers: Mrs. Gunn and Mrs. Graff. They took McKaylee from the bottom of the class (after a disastrous 4th grade teacher) to the top of her class! She learned (among the usual academic lessons) responsibility for her actions, pride in her work, cooperation and respect among her friends, self-esteem, the love of learning and many other great life lessons. She truly succeeded in 5th grade and is now ready and excited to start 6th grade!

McKamree had a bit of a struggle this year. She LOVES her teacher and school. She struggled with the academic part of school and didn't quite get the help and attention she needed. We will have another hard year next year trying to get her up to speed but I'm sure she can do it! Mrs. Davis felt that if kids were a bit behind they would eventually catch up so there was no need to worry. She always told me that McKamree would be where she needed to be by the end of the year so not to worry. Well, now I have to worry because she is not on grade level. We are both ready to work really hard next year to try to get her caught up! Hopefully her new teacher will feel the same way! Mrs. Davis taught her class to work together as a team, to respect and help each other and always be kind. She was very big on boosting the kids self-esteem and letting them know they were important. She was very good at recognizing the good in each child. Mrs. Davis worked hard to discover each child's talent and then make sure they knew that was important. Mrs. Davis always commented that McKamree was the "mother" of the classroom. If anyone was sad, lonely, lost, confused, or needed a friend, McKamree was right there by their side helping. She also said that McKamree listens and does EXACTLY what she was told. McKamree loves rules and order. She will do exactly what she is told and it drives her crazy if others don't. She is very detail oriented. I am grateful that Mrs. Davis took the time to get to know McKamree and her talents and made sure she had good self esteem. I am excited for her to begin her new adventure in 3rd grade.

Rickee also had a super year in kindergarten. She loves school and learning! She always tries really hard to succeed. Rickee not only loved the social aspect of school but she also loved the academic side of it as well. She loves Miss Bell and will miss her greatly. The night before her last day of school she cried and cried because she did not want to leave kindergarten. When she got home from school on the last day she told me her plan to visit Miss Bell everyday at lunch time and after school. Miss Bell is the best and I will miss her too! I had the opportunity to help every Wednesday in Rickee's class. It was often hard to find the time but it was very worth while. I got to know Miss Bell better (what an incredible lady), I got to know Rickee's friends and loved having them say hi to me at the school, at the store, etc. and I got to watch Rickee grow and learn each week. I am so excited for Rickee to start first grade and see her learning soar.
Overall we had a great school year. Now we have 6 weeks to play as much as possible before we all start back to school again!
