Last Sunday we went on a drive to Cascade Springs. I had gone there as a teenager and remember it to be very beautiful and fun. I have wanted to go back for many years and we finally made it! They are natural springs up American Fork Canyon with walkways all around the small ponds and streams. It is very peaceful there! A great Sunday afternoon activity! The girls loved it (especially posing for pictures with beautiful scenery in the back ground). Here are a few of my favorite pictures:

I packed a dinner and thought it would be fun to eat dinner at Cascade Springs. When we got there there were sign all over saying, "NO FOOD ALLOWED". The signs explained that it was such a unique place that they did not want outside
contaminates to ruin the springs. My girls were very disappointed because they were hungry. We walked through the springs and decided to drive back down the mountain and look for a place to eat. As we were leaving there was a side DIRT road that said "State Park" camping ahead. Bryan wanted to check it out because 4-wheelers could be driven there (he is always looking for places to go). So we headed off on the bumpy dirt road in my minivan. We drove and drove and drove without seeing another vehicle or camping spot. Finally after about 30 minutes we found the camping place. The only people there were the camp hosts and it cost $8.00 just to use a spot for the day. Needless to say, we did not stop. We started back to civilization and finally found a pull out. By now the girls are
starving and grouchy. This is where we had our nice
picnic dinner!

There was no table, no grass, only dirt. I didn't even have a blanket to put out, so what did we do???? Ate in the back of the van! Luckily the seats fold down to give us a place to sit.

Dinner was great and it did make for a fun and interesting memory. That was the purpose of the ride, right???

That looks like a beautiful place. It is amazing how many wonderful spots we have so close to where we live!
No food!??! Wow! I'm glad that you were finally able to find a place to eat! Don't you love the fold down seats?!
How fun! I haven't been there for ages too. You've inspired me to take my family. (If only I can convince Dustin that he doesn't need to work EVERY night of the week.)
That is such a beautiful place! That's so funny about not finding a place to eat... grouchy and hungry kids in the car is not fun! We had that happen to us when we went to California, we were driving on Sunset Blvd. and it was beautiful until we got near Hollywood- yikes! There were many questionable people and billboards outside and we did not want to stop there! Our kids thought they were going to die! I'm glad you had your van for your picnic!
It looks like such a beautiful place. I'd like to take my family there. We'll make sure to eat before we go! :)

What a fun adventure! I have never been there before. And although your picnic dinner didn't go quite as planned, I think your back of the van idea worked great!
