I'm a Grandma!

Sort of...
In Kenzee's Teen Living Class they are learning about the responsibility of becoming a parent. Each student is able to bring home a "baby" and take care of them for 1 week. Kenzee brought hers home today. She was very excited and couldn't wait to get it. Kaylee, Kamree and Rickee were almost as excited. Kam and Rickee kept asking me all day when Kenzee would be home with her new baby. They even met her at the bus stop to see their new nephew. Yes, she got a boy. What will we do with a baby boy??? She dressed him, swaddled him in a blanket, and named him Justin James (J.J. for short). Kam and Rickee took turns holding him. It was very sweet. Kaylee even took a turn when she got home from school.

Day one: Everyone is excited to have J.J. around. Kenzee is very attentive. So much so that she can't do her chores because she has a newborn who needs to be held and taken care of. My argument: I made my bed when I had a newborn. And if she was going to take it that literal, I would wake her up during the night to take care of her newborn because they wake up every 2-3 hours. She made her bed!
Day two: Kenzee is taking care of J.J. although it doesn't interrupt her normal life. Kam and Rickee are still very excited about having a baby at our house. They want to play with him all the time.
Day three: Kamree got to babysit J.J. while Kenzee was in the shower. Kam and Rickee fight over who gets to hold him. Kenzee is still paying attention to him although I can tell its getting old.
We will see how the week progresses. I will keep you all informed. Hopefully Kenzee with think twice when she wants to have a baby (in 5 to 10 years). If nothing else, the thought of having Kamree and Rickee fighting over her real child might stop her for a few years!

When I saw the title of this blog I choked a little! I'm sure Kenzie will be a great "mom" to JJ and a fabulous future mom! :)

Geez, this takes me back to 7th grade 'Child Development'. I think I can remember having the same arguments with my mom! How fun though. Maybe she'll realize how much you really do and have sacrificed for her through this little experiment. What a good teaching experience to give them a "taste" of what caring for a newborn is really like. She looks so cute holding that baby with her sisters right there. Just like a little mom (for pretends, just for pretends...:))!!!
